Peru and Bolivia 2017
Gerry and I are finally taking a trip that we had originally planned to take in 1985!
This journey will take
us to elevations over 14,000 feet. We will enjoy ceviche, learn to make
pisco sours, dine at two of the top 50 restaurants in the world, visit several
UNESCO World Heritage sites, learn new cultures and history, and add two more
countries to our list of places to which we feel a connection and empathy as we
read the latest news and stories around the world.
Our journey will begin
in Lima, Peru where we plan to explore on our own for a few days before going
162 miles south to Paracas (driest desert in the world) to view a place where
the desert meets the sea.
We will also visit the
Ballestas Islands (the Galapagos of Peru) to observe sea lions, Humboldt
penguins, birds and the Candelabra geoglyph (dated from 200 BC) carved into the
sand on the side of a hill.
After we return to
Lima for a few more days of exploring and fine dining, we meet our Tauck Tour
“Empire of the Incas: Peru & Bolivia”. Then we are off to visit
Cusco, Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca and La Paz, Bolivia.

I remember why you didn't go in 1985 I think. Meghan!
