Last Day Before The Tour Begins

Today was our kick back and catch up day.  We completed forms for our Bolivian visas, filled out paperwork for our tour which begins tomorrow and called friends and family.

We walked to a park about 20 minutes from our hotel and Myra went tandem paragliding with an expert off the cliff, over the ocean and above the high rises. The return was magnificent. The pilot made a sharp turn over the ocean, flew towards the walls of the cliff and rose straight up for a landing on the grass. Wow!!

This evening the four of us went to Central for dinner. This restaurant is rated as number 5 out of the top 50 restaurants in the world!  They offer 11 or 18 dishes that can be paired with wine. The dishes are representative of food that is grown in the different altitudes of Peru. We selected their 11 course with wine pairing. What a disappointment!  An expensive disappointment!  The service was robotic, the wait staff wanted to rush us through. They did not explain their dishes and had to be asked repeatedly for water. The presentation of each dish was stunning but ridiculous. They would bring out a dish that represented the area (for example a bowl made to look like piranha heads) with two tiny pieces of piranha ceviche. The wine pairing was awful. The pours were barely a swallow, the wine was not good, sometimes it was not wine at all, it was beer and sometimes the swallow of wine was for 2 courses. It really was not a “pairing”.  Oh well!
